Our Mission
The Post Secondary program at Mercer County Technical School provides a great range of opportunities for students to gain industry-specific skills and certifications. With programs in high-demand fields like Cosmetology, Welding, Carpentry, HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical, students have the chance to develop practical, hands-on expertise. The option for apprenticeships is a strong feature, as it allows students to combine classroom learning with real-world experience. By registering with an employer, students can earn while they learn, which can be especially beneficial in trade-focused careers. Additionally, offering courses for students not on an apprenticeship pathway expands accessibility to those who may already have work experience or prefer a more traditional educational setting before entering the workforce
Post-Secondary Learning
Post-Secondary is a vital component of lifelong learning that provides diverse opportunities—from basic literacy and vocational training to advanced professional development and certificate programs. These programs are designed with flexibility in mind, often offering evening and online classes to accommodate the busy schedules of adult learners. By equipping individuals with updated skills and knowledge, adult education enhances career prospects and earning potential, contributes to economic growth, and promotes social inclusion by supporting marginalized communities.
Work-Based Learning
Our business partners give our students work-based learning, including career exploration opportunities such as career preparation and career training. We create an environment to let our students succeed in work-based learning and propel their careers.
Student Success
MCTS post-secondary drives student success through a blend of hands-on learning, rigorous academics, and robust support services such as apprenticeships and career upward mobility, resulting in high graduation and job placement rates.
