About Us
The Post Secondary program at Mercer County Technical School provides a great range of opportunities for students to gain industry-specific skills and certifications. With programs in high-demand fields like Cosmetology, Welding, Carpentry, HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical, students have the chance to develop practical, hands-on expertise.
The option for apprenticeships is a strong feature, as it allows students to combine classroom learning with real-world experience. By registering with an employer, students can earn while they learn, which can be especially beneficial in trade-focused careers.
Additionally, offering courses for students not on an apprenticeship pathway expands accessibility to those who may already have work experience or prefer a more traditional educational setting before entering the workforce
Mission Statement
The mission of the Post-Secondary Education of Mercer County Technical Schools is to produce a community of inspired, compassionate learners who are knowledgeable, skilled and possess the competencies that will prepare them for success in an ever-changing technological world. We provide our students with educational opportunities in preparing for careers in business and industry while emphasizing a culture of personal attention that focuses on the individual learner. Our goal is to foster a school climate that emphasizes the importance of the teaching-learning process and provide adults the opportunities to maximize their potential, to reflect, and offer solutions to challenges posed by society.
Per the criteria developed by the Office of Career Readiness, adults must have a high school diploma or have passed a high school equivalency test (GED, HiSET, or TASC) to be eligible for admission to Postsecondary Vocational CTE Programs.
