It is recommended that you register online at mctspsa.org. Please use the "Apply Online" button at the top right of the website.

• Fall registration opens in May.
• Spring registration opens in December.

All courses are offered at the Assunpink campus. Cosmetology is offered at the Sypek campus 
Assunpink: 1085 Old Trenton Road, Trenton, NJ 08690.
Sypek: 129 Bull Run Road, Pennington, NJ.

Our programs are open to all residents of all counties.

All courses at Assunpink are from 6 pm-9 pm on M/W or Tu/Th.
All cosmetology courses are at Sypek and it runs from 6 pm-10 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday.

Per the criteria developed by the Office of Career Readiness, adults must have a high school diploma or have passed a high school equivalency test (GED, HiSET, or TASC) to be eligible for admission to Postsecondary Vocational CTE Programs.  

We offer online courses through Ed2Go

• Online options are available to meet the needs of students. However, there are no asynchronous or synchronous courses available. Teachers have the ability to offer opportunities for students within the brick and mortar model of instruction to help meet the needs of students. 
• We also offer OSHA 30 which is a requirement for all apprenticeship students seeking certification.

Ed2Go

• Transcripts are required if you are registering for Barbering of Cosmetology.
• Transcripts are required if you have already completed courses in the trade for which you are registering or if you want to be waived from a course due to completion at another institution. You will need to submit the transcript to ptsa@mcts.edu
• If you are transferring from another vocational school or shared-time vocational high school, you will need to submit a transcript by email to ptsa@mcts.edu

You would register for Year 2 of the program.

When completing the registration online, there is a question that states “How did you hear about us?”  Please choose “I attended MCTS in High School.”

Currently we do not have an open house but will be working on this for future.

Yes, there are deadlines for registration. The application must be submitted prior to the first day of classes. 

There are no prerequisites or background knowledge necessary for enrollment. Once you are enrolled in an apprenticeship program you will need to follow your pathway. Each pathway is different and has prerequisites necessary for you to move forward into the next course.

There is no selection requirement for admissions.

You must be 18 years of age or older and possess a High School diploma or equivalent.

Attend class on the day time your class is scheduled.

Your employer must apply with the USDOL for sponsorship to sponsor you and register you as an apprentice.Once you are registered as an apprentice your 8,000 work hours will start. You will need to come to school with us in order to get you education hours. You must have 8,000 work hours and 576 instructional hours.

MCTS Assunpink center is on the NJ TRANSIT bus route 619. There is not a bus route for MCTS Sypek Center.

Depending on the program you are in, will depend on the course duration. Please view our program of study.

You do NOT have to be a US citizen to register for a course.

You will need to find a job to sponsor you as an apprentice and pay you to work full time for their business.
Your job will go through the process with NJ Dept of Labor.

Yes, you can come to the campus for a tour anytime after 3:30 PM Monday-Thursday. 
 

Yes, there will be opportunities for hands-on experience. Most of our programs are theory-based. However, there are opportunities for apprentices to get hands-on experiences on the job as well as in the classroom.

This changes year to year however, Trade jobs are in demand. We promote jobs in the county as well as outside the county. We have a work-based learning program that helps students with job placement while they are in the program and after graduation.

Seat capacity is 25-30 per class.

Students in need of support must make an appointment with the Director of Post Secondary Services to outline what supports are needed. We offer a lot of support for people who may need it.

We can not determine other school’s policies on transferring credits. However, we accept credits from other schools. We will need to do a transcript review to determine which ones will transfer over.

We are not currently set up to accept GI bills for payment; however, we are in the process of becoming a VA-approved school.
